I know that getting good grades can sometimes be stressful. To help reduce that stress and improve the likelihood of getting your best grades, allow yourself the time and space you need to do your best work. Don't procrastinate, and if you get stuck on an assignment, reach out to me.
I welcome your questions and I'm happy to help you think through your ideas so you can successfully complete an assignment. Sometimes just a five minute conversation in WebEx is all you need to resolve your problem. Struggle is a natural part of learning, but if you're feeling frustrated that means it is time to reach out for some assistance. You know how to reach me, right?

Introduction Discussion: Designed to build a sense of community in the course, and help you find other students with similar degree plans and study habits.
How to Type Math Discussion: An activity to learn how to use the D2L Equation Editor to type math in an online format.
5 Math Discussions: Think of these as a way to work through the commonly missed problems in Algebra, and to fine-tune your algebra skills with lots of help and guidance.
Dear Future Student: Less like a discussion, and more of a letter to future students.
Discussions have set due dates, and cannot be submitted late.
ALEKS Homework
40% of your final grade.
Located in the ALEKS course.
Unlimited attempts, and the highest grade is what is recorded in the grade book.
Available at the start of the semester, with regular due dates throughout the semester.
Homework is designed as practice. Practice writing the homework out with the notation shown in my lectures.
ALEKS Quizzes
25% of your final grade.
Located in the ALEKS course.
2 attempts, and the highest grade is what is recorded in the grade book.
1 hour to complete with no outside resources, except for a calculator.
Available at the start of the semester, with regular due dates throughout the semester.
Problems on Quizzes are from that Chapter's Homework.
Online Exams & Final Exam
25% of your final grade.
2 online exams with corresponding Show Work submission, & 1 online cumulative final exam with corresponding Show Work submission.
Online exams are located in the ALEKS course.
2 hour time limit.
Closed book and no outside resources, except for a calculator.
Show Work Submission of handwritten work from the online test.
I review all of the show work submission to understand your thought process, and provide help/guidance.
I use the show work to help award partial credit.
Your work helps me improve my teaching, by showing me where common errors are occurring.
Please make it neat and legible.
In Week 1, I teach you HOW to upload your handwritten work.
